 The training department exists to bring a greater level of purpose and intentionality to the practical outworking of the training provided for each student.
Though we cannot provide individualised training for each one of our students, the training department, along with other key departments within the College, seeks to ensure that every student is encouraged to understand their God-shaped personality, to discover their God-given talents and to live in their God-ordained destiny. Our ambition is to connect with our students as they join us and walk with them through their journey of development and growth, for however long they stay with us. We aim to do this through personality profile, by looking at their gifts and aspirations and providing as much practical opportunity for function, thus allowing purpose to come to the fore.
Through the Training Department students are connected to local churches in the UK and around the world, through Sunday ministry, weekend ministry teams, evangelistic teams and mission teams and beyond Mattersey we want to ensure that the majority of our students are entering Christian service and local church ministry. Every one of our students is encouraged to be part of our ‘global’ mission programme where each year we send out teams to various nations of the world. Some of those nations have included the UK, France, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, Philippines, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Jordan, Romania and Greece. We believe this is crucial for the development of our students in Mattersey not only in serving and touching the world, but ensuring our future leaders begin their ministry journey with a global perspective.
